Lynching and the Criminalization of Blackness: Then and Now

featuring Terry Anne Scott, Ph.D., Director of African American Studies and Chair of the Department of History at Hood College.
Dr. Scott will examine how present-day killing of African Americans is connected to a sordid past, and how we can work to create a future defined by equity and compassion.

with Dean Herrin, Ph.D., retired Chief Historian of the National Capital Area at the National Park Service in Washington, DC., and Chair of the Research Committee for the African American Resources Cultural and Heritage Society of Frederick (AARCH).
Dr. Herrin will speak to Frederick County’s lynching history and the importance of recalling that history for current generations.
