HAPPY SPRING, EVERYBODY!

UUCF ANNUAL SPRING YARD SALE

Save Your Items -- Save Your Time -- Save Your Energy

We need your (slightly tarnished) treasure AND your time for the UUCF yard sale to be held
at 1301 Motter Avenue on Saturday, May 17 (rain date: May 24). Please volunteer to help
with early set-up (6:30 AM), running the yard sale during the day, or taking everything
down at 3:00 PM (NO hauling away required). Items in good condition may be delivered to
the yard sale site on Friday, May 16 (no clothes other than good children’s gently-used
clothing). Contact Tibby (midken@comcast.net) or Carole B. (carolejbenson@comcast.net) or
sign up on the poster in the Narthex. We need your support to make this event a success!

A SPRING FUND RAISING OPPORTUNITY

In case you are not familiar with the term "O.P.M.", it means "other people's money,” i.e.,
free money for our church programs that comes from someone other than our loyal
members and friends. Your Stewardship Committee has recently learned about a
promotion by Sun Trust Bank that will give UUCF $100 for each person who participates.

Yes, O.P.M., free money, no strings, and from a bank, no less. It doesn't cost you anything
out of pocket and will take only a little time and attention. Sun Trust calls its program "Our
Checking, Your Cause." It's being offered until June 30 and can benefit any non-profit
group chosen by the person opening an account. Naturally, we want you to identify UUCF
as the recipient of the free money.

So far, we know of five "my cause" accounts that were opened by UUCF members who
designated our congregation as their beneficiary. That means $500 in free money will come
to UUCF in a few months. Why don't you join, too? If twenty more people participate, we
could raise an additional $2000 for our programs!

To hear a real life story about how easy it was to sign on, contact Meg Menke
(301-407-2224 or meg@menkescientific.com). You can read up on the details at this
website: https://promotion.suntrust.com/mycause. Remember, the deadline is June 30.

SPRING PLEDGING - IT'S COMING TO A CLOSE

If you have not submitted your annual pledge card, please do it soon. There are two reasons to do this:

1. You will affirm your membership (or friendship) with UUCF for the coming church year, which begins on July 1.
2. You can indicate what level of financial support you will offer to support the congregation's work in the year ahead. If you are unsure of an amount, it's OK to write down $0 or $50 or some other low amount that is realistic for you. We know you'll contribute as you are able.
