Peter Plant

We welcome back our October artist, the talented Peter Plant who is well known by Frederick art fans for his landscape work in acrylics, mixed media and colored pencil. Painting en plein air he finds the Central Maryland area beautiful and historic. "I love the blue mountains in the distance, and the Potomac River through the trees along the C&O Canal towpath." Natural Connections, his show of paintings and photographs will open at the Blanche Ames Gallery on October 1, 12:30-2:00 p.m. with a reception and artist talk. The show will run through October 29. Peter is a graduate of the University of Dayton where he won the university's highest award for representational art. His career in graphic arts included operating his own business, The Graphic Press, for 14 years. Since 2001 he has been an elementary school art teacher in Montgomery County.

Plant has exhibited his work extensively in the Central Maryland area. He has had individual shows at the Weinberg Center, Frederick Cellars, VisArts in Rockville, The Snallygaster in Middletown, Thurmont Library, Urbana Regional Library and in several multi-person shows. HIs work has been exhibited in Frederick and Montgomery Counties and in Loudoun County, VA.

Peter is a member of the Delaplaine Visual Arts and Education Center, the Frederick Arts Council, The Washington County Arts Council, the Art League of Germantown, the Montgomery Art Association and the Frederick County Art Association.
