Kurt Kraus

December 6, 2015 through January 2016 the Blanche Ames Gallery will be showing the digital paintings of Kurt Kraus, a local artist, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He has always enjoyed drawing and painting, so after graduating high school, he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, studying Illustration and graphic design under the tutelage of some of the industry’s most talented and successful professionals. From there he went on to attend LaRoche College, attaining his Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design, with his main focus on graphic design and illustration, studying under world-renown illustrator, George Founds. Kurt moved to Virginia in 1994, where he found his love of horse and wine country through hundreds of miles on the back of his Harley Davidson. He has a love of animals and sports, which he transfers to canvas via digital and traditional paintings. From these areas, along with movies and entertainment, he draws inspiration for his creations through a unique style and eye for color. Kurt originally started in oil, pencil, and acrylic, but has in recent years found a true passion and fascination for digital painting. Coming of age with the advent of computers, he became intrigued with their power and capabilities, which has become his current tool of choice. It is here you will truly appreciate his style, use of color, and love of the brush. He hopes that you enjoy his work as much as he enjoys creating it. A reception will be held from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm on December 6th at the Blanche Ames Gallery located at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Frederick , 4880 Elmer Derr Road, 21703. Friends, members and visitors are invited. For other gallery times on weekdays please call the UUCF office 301-473-7680
