Karen Peacock

The Blanche Ames Gallery welcomes the return of Karen Peacock whose stunning work appeared in our 2015 juried show. The gallery's new solo show of Ms. Peacock's work, "Multilayered," opens on Sunday, February 5 at 12:30 p.m. with a reception and artist talk that is open to the general public. The show runs through February 25. Please call 301-473-7680 if planning to visit the gallery at times other than the opening.

Karen's multilayered paintings and collages draw the observer into a dreamlike world that is also somehow very realistic. Her figures remind one of religious icons or mystical queens and her abstracts have an ethereal calmness. Her work is rich in texture and color that is made from multiple layers. "I always have several paintings/collages going at once so there is something to work on while various layers are drying."

Besides being an artist, Karen is a magazine designer and a writer who resides in downtown Frederick. She majored in Studio Art at the University of Maryland in College Park and has enjoyed taking classes and workshops at the Delaplaine and at Frederick Community College. She earned an MA in Publication Design at the University of Baltimore.

You can view more of Karen's work at peacockartanddesign.com on the wall art and the photography pages.
