John & Shari Kuhn

Featuring photographs, prints and watercolors, the Blanche Ames Gallery invites you to "A Taste of Italy" created by John and Shari Kuhn, our featured September artists. Their 2016 trip to Rome, Florence, Venice, the middle and northern regions of Italy inspired their "delicious" range of work which opens with artists' talk and reception at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 3. The show runs through September 24. Blanche Ames Gallery is located at 4880 Elmer Derr Road, Frederick. Please call 301-473-7680 if planning to visit the gallery at times other than the opening.

Shari and John, Middletown residents, love to travel. Shari captures the innate beauty of her surroundings with her impressionistic paintings and vibrant color. Her watercolors are a form of meditation and allow her to deeply connect with nature. John, who has studied photography for 30 years, continues to improve his vision and desire to turn his photographs into works of art. He tries not to manipulate his images beyond what could be accomplished in a traditional darkroom.

Shari is a member of the Delaplaine Visual Arts & Education Center where she has exhibited several times. She is also a member of the Frederick County Arts Association, Washington County Arts Council and an associate member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. She is a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church 'Art for the Spirit' group. You may view her watercolor paintings on her website at www.sharikuhn.com or on Facebook at Watercolors by Shari.

John specializes in landscape, nautical, nature and travel photography. His award winning work has been published in, "Black & White Magazine," "Color Magazine," "Ward Museum Waterfowl Publications" and "Expressions Magazine." He is a member of the Delaplaine Visual Arts & Education Center, Frederick County Arts Association, Washington County Arts Council and the North American Nature Photography Association.

Buon Appetito at this feast for the eyes!
